Petition: Reliable Buses Now

Affected by a no-show or ghost bus? Report it below (direct link here) and please consider signing the petition below.

We the undersigned call for:

  1. An action plan to end Ghost Buses in 2025: Transport for Ireland should provide details of how they will end the no show fiasco, and ensure all cancelled buses are properly reported and updated on the live travel information
  2. Recruit & retain bus workers and mechanics: We support the workers in their fight for proper pay, conditions and union rights so we can recruit and retain the staff needed for a reliable bus service
  3. Increase investment in public transport from the government, to increase the frequency and reliability
  4. End the privatisation experiment: No to the renewal of contracts with Go-Ahead or giving them more routes, instead bring them back under Dublin Bus, as a step to reversing privatisation of public transport.

We believe privatisation has failed, and that would be made clear by a genuine public review of the privatisation experiment across public transport by workers and commuters, including opening the books of the private operators to see the profits being made. Instead, we believe public transport should be a public service: free, fast and frequent.

As a bus driver in Dublin Bus the passed 23 years I’ve never seen it as bad. We’ve had the traffic issues which vastly improved. The system now is severely flawed and the NTA just seems adimate to push through its agenda. . Expending routes , no drivers . There’s a hugh focus again on Privatising companies at the expensive of a proper service to the public. Dublin bus is been forced by the NTA to focus on avoiding fines rather than operating a proper service to the public leaving passengers constantly stranded on the streets. Just like Irish ferries, Aer Linguas and many more companies push into the private companies making it ten times worse
