Petition: Reliable Buses Now

Affected by a no-show or ghost bus? Report it below (direct link here) and please consider signing the petition below.

We the undersigned call for:

  1. An action plan to end Ghost Buses in 2025: Transport for Ireland should provide details of how they will end the no show fiasco, and ensure all cancelled buses are properly reported and updated on the live travel information
  2. Recruit & retain bus workers and mechanics: We support the workers in their fight for proper pay, conditions and union rights so we can recruit and retain the staff needed for a reliable bus service
  3. Increase investment in public transport from the government, to increase the frequency and reliability
  4. End the privatisation experiment: No to the renewal of contracts with Go-Ahead or giving them more routes, instead bring them back under Dublin Bus, as a step to reversing privatisation of public transport.

We believe privatisation has failed, and that would be made clear by a genuine public review of the privatisation experiment across public transport by workers and commuters, including opening the books of the private operators to see the profits being made. Instead, we believe public transport should be a public service: free, fast and frequent.

I’m a student who takes the E1 to UCD most days of the week. The E1 and E2 are both a complete joke! I once left the house over an hour before I usually would as I had a presentation to give that day and I couldn’t risk being late due to a delayed bus. Two buses never showed up, one was full and drove by, and the last bus was delayed by 10 minutes. I was 20 minutes late and almost failed that class! This was the worst example of the E1 being inconsistent, but inconsistentency is the only consistent thing about it. Privatization NEVER works. Why do we have to pay taxes when the taxes don’t ever seem to be used to benefit the people? We deserve better public transport than this.

How will this website improve the current situation? Even main stream media refuses to report on this issue!

I require the S6 to get to and from work and it is so unreliable. So many instances of ghost buses and cancelled services leaving the staff and students of UCD stranded

I urgently need to get into town, but my car won’t start. I have no money as I’m nearly 12 months behind on my loan payments and cannot afford my bills anymore. I have been on long-term sick leave due to extreme depression and severe anxiety and 10 months waiting a referral to see a mental health specialist. I’ve tried so hard to get help but no one, no matter where I turn is willing to help me! I receive €244 weekly in illness benefits, which is not enough to get by. No one is willing to help me, and my mental health is in a much more precarious state than when I last worked in October 2023.

Due to suspected hard failure, with symptoms, it takes 35 minutes to walk to the bus stop at Coolamber Park from Boden Park, but the bus (number 15), which is advertised as running every 15 or 30 minutes online, is displayed as, next due: 50 minutes? . It’s now 12:49 AM, and this situation has been the straw that broke this camels back. I’m suffering from severe anxiety, and without my car, I feel stranded, alone, and scared at night. And have been let down again by state( really privitisrd) “public” transport. I have an urgent need for transportation, and this state once again refuses to help its vulnerable!

Shame on the leaders of this country!

As a driver I feel Dublin bus are doing their best with the support they are receiving. If every department in the Government ran as well as Dublin bus. We wouldn’t even have a A&E problem
